London 2012 Olympico and Paralympic Games mascots Wenlock and Mandeville

British “Sun” reported that London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games mascots Wenlock and Mandeville appearance officially in public. It is understood that the two Olympic mascot is made of extra building materials of venues, the biggest feature of the maxcot is there is only one eye, so the outside world has many opinions about this mascot, organizers said this mascot is designed specially for Children, but most people think the mascot does not look good.

According to the London Olympic Games Organizing Committee official website, the Olympic Games mascot called Wenlock, named because of the prototype of the modern Olympico Games – British Wenlock Olympian Games in 1850. Paralympic mascot named Mandeville were based on the British National Spinal Cord Injury Center Mandeville where disabled sports first held in 1948.

Iris Corporation of London, designer Grant Hunter said the Olympic mascots Wenlock body is silver and decorated with gold and copper, Wenlock’s head shape representative of the shape of the Olympico podium and three medals, wore the Olympic rings bracelets symbolized friendship on hand; Mandeville’s head reflected aerodynamic shape and have the three crescent designs representing Paralympic flags.

London Olympico Committee Lord Sebastian said in the future two mascots would have their exclusive stories. they had got the best story writers to create the whole new journey for the mascot, including what the mascots see, meet someone, to where, what to do and encounter cultural movement.

The mascot took 18 months to design, the eye Design inspiration of mascot comes from the camera, what one eye saw records all of things same as the camera, as the design inspiration of physical characteristics partly from the British taxi.

It is reported that sales of Olympico mascot-related products will be available this July, when the countdown of the London Olympics started for two years. Sales of related products is expected to reach 15 million pounds.
